Change what you think about.

Monitoring your thoughts is not easy, what is easy is letting the same old thoughts rumble through your head day after day and as long as that is what is going on in your head nothing is going to change.

Getting your life back on track is all about managing change,

Here’s how to change what you think about.

  • Firstly you take a pen and paper and write down what’s good in your life and what you would like to change.
  • Now, write a detailed description of how your life will be when these things have changed, imagine you go to sleep tonight and wake up to your dream life, what will it look like, what will you be doing, who will you be with, what will you be wearing, what car will you drive. Write down everything you can think of.
  • Choose one of these changes to focus on. Write down the numbers 1-10, but leave a bit of space between them, we might just want to go to 1.25 or 1.5.
  • Put your change at number 10 then think about the first small thing you can do to begin to make that change happen. Write it opposite number 1.
  • Begin to work on that first small step.
  • That’s it for this week – Trish is working on weight and fitness, her first small step is to find a picture of a female figure in the size she would like to be, i.e. size 16. She needs to find picture of a size 16 woman in a variety of clothes including a swim suit. Then she needs to super-impose her head on the figure and make lots of copies, and stick them all around the house and in her car.

Trish is excited about getting her life back on track, but it’s best not to rush, we’ll do this one step at a time.
