How to use your brain to get your life back on track.

The following excerpts are from ‘The Answer’ by John Assaraf and Murray Smith, a very useful read, lots of practical advice and things to do.
“The conscious brain is volitional: It is the part you control by conscious will, the part that sets goals and judges results. The non-conscious brain is servile: It sets no goals of it’s own, but instead executes the goals it is provided with; it does not judge the merits or values of results, only whether or not they match the given goals”.

“What exactly is a habit? It is what you create when you do something over and over, to the point where you no longer need to think about it consciously in order to repeat the process perfectly. And this applies not only to things you do physically, but also to your thoughts.” “ A habit of thought over time [and repetition] becomes an attitude or belief”.

Why are these excerpts important to you when you try to get your life back on track? Because, beliefs tend to be self fulfilling. Beliefs are thousands of times stronger than desires or wishes. John Assaraf tells us that while you may desire to increase your income tenfold, if your habits of thought do not expect anything like that to happen, it will be impossible for it to happen. This is because your habits, not your desires or other conscious thoughts, that run your actions, Thank-you Mr. Assaraf, for so clearly explaining what hundreds of others try to tell us.

Now you know how to get your life back on track. You need to change your thinking habits, you also need to change your doing habits, changing one won’t work, you have to change both.

Take a long hard look at your life, be ruthless and write down whatever is not working for you, then write down how you would like it to be, in as much detail and with as much feeling as you can. Throw away your first list, you won’t be needing that! This is it then, to change your life your need to change your beliefs and your habits, your non-conscious brain will work with you to bring about whatever your new beliefs and habits tell it to. You know how to create habits, you just do the action or think the thought over and over and over until it is imprinted in your brain, until you believe that this is your life. John Ford said “If you think you can or you think you can’t, either way you will be right”.
