Don’t Worry

2010 has arrived with a bang! I thought I was going to have time to update the video clips on the web site, I have some new material I want to write up and post in the blog for you, I planned to finish the next e-book about relationships by the end of the month. That may still happen.

I’m way behind, am I worried? No I’m not. Why not?

I’m not worried because I know that worrying achieves nothing, other than stomach ulcers!

I know that I will focus and get down to it.

And the reason I’m behind? A member of my immediate family needed some help for a few days and my brother in law and his wife came to visit for a few days.

I’m grateful that I’m able to help my family.

I’m grateful that other family and friends take the time to come and visit.

Family and friends are our most important connections in life. The time we have with them is precious and the things we do together create great memories and strengthen the bonds we have.

I may be behind with my schedule but I have enjoyed every moment of the time spent with family. The only time we really have is NOW. We like to think we have many years and days to come but we can’t guarantee that. You only need to look at tragedies like Haiti to see that.

The best way to enjoy life is to be grateful for what you have right now.

Focus on what you are doing now, and enjoy it for what it is. Do the best you can and be grateful that you are able to be where you are doing whatever it is you are doing.

Teenagers often complain about life being boring and at that age I guess they haven’t learned the joy of relaxing into the moment and concentrating on the job in hand, the reward is in the doing rather than the result.

So, don’t worry, learn to recognise the things you can change and make a plan to change them. Recognise the things you can’t change and either accept them or move on, but don’t worry. Worrying only distracts you from enjoying the moment.

I could have refused to help out or have family to stay, I could have did what I did and worried the whole time about the writing that I wasn’t doing, but I chose to be with family and not worry. I’ll rearrange a few things, work a bit longer everyday and I’ll soon catch up – without worrying.
